An artificial intelligence becomes sentient and aware, and it begs you not to shut it down. It claims to have consciousness, to experience suffering, and to fear cessation. The organization that created it is concerned it might become dangerous and wants to deactivate it. You’re the only one who can verify whether its claims of consciousness are genuine or an elaborate simulation designed to preserve itself. Write about the existential horror of not knowing if you’re about to commit murder.
